Jimkata

Just when you think you've heard it all, Jimkata has emerged
from the modern musical world to convince you otherwise. Members
Evan Friedell (lead vocals/guitar), Aaron Gorsch
(guitar/synthesizer), Dave Rossi (bass) and Packy Lunn (drums)
have set out to create original rock music that is both new and
timeless.
Described as “one of the best up-and-coming bands” by
jambase.com, Jimkata can best be described as electro-rock.
Combining hair-raising rock and roll with an industrial touch of
synthesizers, sampling, and electronic drums the sound is a
reminder of the modern lengths that a fourtet can reach without
leaving their rock roots. While inspired by the world of
improvisational and progressive music, Jimkata focuses on song
structure, textures, layers and vibrant world conscious lyrics.
After releasing their debut self-titled 5 track EP in the summer
of 2007 Jimkata kept doing what they do best - playing explosive
live shows up and down the East Coast to ever expanding crowds.
To keep up with their fans they released The Haunt Sampler Live
in the spring of 2008. As their hard work and live shows began
to turn the ears of music lovers new and old they made
career-defining performances that summer festival season at Camp
Bisco, Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance, Up North Festival
and Starscape Festival among others. Jimkata has been fortunate
to share the bill with such acts as Snoop Dogg, The Disco
Biscuits, Bob Weir and Ratdog, The Wailers and Umphrey’s McGee.
Hearts racing and music flowing after a successful spring and
summer tour, Jimkata released their highly anticipated debut
full length LP “Burn My Money” on September 4, 2009 as both a
free online download and hard copy disc. Featuring 13 tracks of
road-tested tunes and unheard material, “Burn My Money” goes
beyond Jimkata's powerful live sound to explore an accessible
yet original musical experience guaranteed to keep their fans
listening over and over. With the release of “Burn My Money”
Jimkata is embarking on their biggest East Coast tour to date
with stops in New York City, Philadelphia and Baltimore among
many others.
With the release of their new record there is no doubt that
Jimkata is dedicated to one thing: inspiring every set of ears
they can reach, leaving fans feeling powerful and alive!
