The Groovement

In the spring of 2007, guitarist Leland Plumridge set out to find a band capable of complimenting his unique and heartfelt musical style. His reggae influenced guitar, and catchy, sometimes political lyrics caught the attention of keyboardist Mike Hernandez at a coffee shop north of Philadelphia. Plumridge soon discovered that Hernandez had the passion and energy he wanted beside him on stage, not to mention an excellent ear for melody. Next, Leland looked to high school classmate and bass player Alex Turbett who had recently moved back to the area. After playing for Syracuse, NY, based jazz/funk band The Flavour while he was in college, Turbett was anxious to find a new and promising musical project. When it came time to find a drummer, Alex suggested recruiting the help of long time friend Rob Coccodrilli. When Leland heard the steady and often thunderous beats of Coccodrilli, he knew The Groovement was complete.
