Alex Brubaker

Well known throughout Central PA for his unique playing style, Alex Brubaker has been emerging through the local music scene with a host of performances that turn heads and bring an appreciation for his music by both young and old. Being only 20 years old, he has gone from showing seasoned musicians two to three times his age a whole different way to play to inspiring teenagers only a few years younger than him who have just picked up a guitar for the first time, everyone is able to attest to his musical ingenuity.

His music would best be described as "post-percussive finger style." Percussive finger style is the rapidly growing genre of Andy McKee, Antoine Dufour, and Trace Bundy. It is a genre known for percussive hits on the guitar, tapped harmonics, and overlapping melodies that are difficult to imagine a single person playing. In addition to having strong ties to percussive finger style, he also experiments with looping, lap tapping, heavy dissonances, the occasional electric guitar, and newer material may even have a post-rock feel to it at times. Due to musical influences from nearly every end of the spectrum, Brubaker aims to transcend genres and harmoniously mesh together the best they have to offer. This attitude in writing leaves the listener with an instrumental artist who will hold your attention through an entire album, leaving you wanting more.
